Microchip Education Courses

The Reunite Project's Microchip Education Course is a brief, educational class designed to help pet owners understand the the importance of microchipping and how it plays a critical role in reuniting lost pets with their families. 


The course covers: 

  • How microchips work 
  • Why microchips are essential for lost pet reunification 
  • How and where microchips are scanned 
  • Keeping information current 
  • Common myths and misconceptions about microchips 
  • What to do if your pet is lost
  • What to do if you find a pet 


Participants who complete the course are eligible to receive: 

  • A free microchip and implantation for their pet at a participating veterinary clinic ( currently ONLY Chesapeake Human Society Clinic, with more locations coming soon) 
  • Guidance on how to properly register and maintain microchip information 
  • Educational materials to support responsible pet ownership

To request a spot in The Reunite Tonight Project's Microchip Education Course, please complete the request form linked on this page. 


Once your request is submitted, a member of The Reunite Tonight Project will review your information and contact you with available class dates and times. Class availability is limited and scheduled on a rolling basis. Submitting this form does not guarantee immediate placement but allows us to match you with the next available class that fits your schedule.
